My name is Mer Best, and I’m Co-founder and CEO of Meyana Bioenergy Limited. Basically, I lead a team of young, talented, and diverse intellectuals who are passionate about our mission of enhancing Africa’s potential beyond electricity.
Our biggest achievement to date is being the first indigenous company to design, manufacture and operate containerized mobile waste to the energy system in Nigeria with proven potential of accelerating Africa’s off-grid and rural electrification plans.
Since our founding in 2016, we have raised over $80,000 in R&D for product development and proof of concept. Notably, we won the 2017 prestigious Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF) Africa’s Ideas competition and more recently in 2020, the ECOSMART InnovateUK grant.
I hold a master’s degree (with distinction) in Biotechnology from the University of Wolverhampton and my research expertise is in Anaerobic Digestion microbiology. I relax well when I go fishing, bird watching or reading.
