Dr. Yinka Somorin is a Marie Curie Fellow at the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway, Ireland. His expertise cuts across molecular microbiology, food safety, and molecular diagnostics, and his current research is focused on the deployment of emerging technologies to develop novel biomedical applications. These research activities have resulted in over £230,000 in research funding, 20 publications, 19 awards, and conference presentations. Dr. Somorin was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire, UK, and a Research Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast, UK, where he worked with industrial and clinical partners on the development of a rapid molecular diagnostic assay for detecting urinary tract infections and antimicrobial resistance. He is passionate about research capacity building and co-founded RBridgeAfrica as a platform to promote research and innovation development in Africa.
